Dawlish is a small seaside town situated on the beautiful South Devon coast. The town is heavily influenced by the Georgian and Victorian periods, and there is a delightful park and brook running through the center of town, here you will find rare black swans and other wildlife looked after by the wildlife warden. the lawned area in the middle of the town is ideal for games and picnics and often plays host to a variety of events, monthly farmers markets, the annual vintage and motorbike rally and Dawlish Carnival week. The sandy beach at Dawlish is set beside a historic railway, whilst the beach at Dawlish Warren is only a couple of miles away.

The famous railway line passes by the sea, in front of the town, it is considered to be one of the most scenic lines in Britain, providing a great transport link to Cornwall and further afield. Renowned for the railway line passing the sea, in front of the town, Dawlish is a hugely popular holiday destination.
Dawlish has red sandstone cliffs and is fronted by a sandy beach, immediately to the south-west the town centre is a headland, Lea Mount with boat cove at its foot and Coryton Cove, the furthest part of the beach accessible by the seawall path. There is a food kiosk and in the summer live music events weekly.
To the North- East, via the beach or seawall or the beach can be followed for some 2 km to Langstone Rock and the resort of Dawlish Warren beyond, making it perfect for family days out exploring the rock pools or taking a bracing dip in the sea.
There are several attractions in and around the town the safari mini golf, arcade, waterfowl centre, a leisure centre, countryside park and the Dawlish Museum.
A blend of traditional pubs and contemporary eateries and independent shops can be found throughout the town. there is also the opportunity to spend some lose change in the old arcades, to embrace the traditional seaside holiday!
Also there is the lawned area which plays host to many events including the annual Dawlish carnival week!

Surrounding area
Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve is a must-see when visiting the south coast. With 500 acres of beautiful grassland, sand dunes and an abundance of wildlife, the nature reserve is a fantastic day out. Avid and novice bird watchers will be in their element here, with 23,000 wildfowl and wading birds travelling to the estuary during autumn.
History buffs will enjoy wandering the grounds at Powderham Castle, just 15 minutes from Dawlish. Set in a stunning deer park on the banks of the River Exe, the castle offers 600 years of fascinating history and heritage.
If you’d like a break from the pretty coastal vistas in favour of a city jaunt, the historic city of Exeter is just 30 minutes away. With a long high street and renowned shopping centre, Princess Hay, Exeter is Devon’s capital for shopping.
Situated along the coast from the English Riviera, Dawlish is just a short journey away from further sandy beaches and hidden coves at Torquay, Paignton, Brixham and Teignmouth. Take to the water on a sealife or pleasure cruise along the coast to take in the spectacular coastline.
